AMBASSADOR
JESUS I. YABES is the Philippine Government Representative to the Government of Singapore in both official and ceremonial functions. He is also responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the embassy and its attached offices.
The Ambassador institutes the goals and objectives of the embassy and promotes Philippine foreign policy in Singapore.

JESUS I. YABES presented his Credentials to President Ong Teng Cheong on 15 July 1999 as the sixth Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore.
Born in 1948 in Manila, Ambassador Yabes is a proud alumnus of the University of the Philippines where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Public Administration. He joined the Foreign Service in 1978 and passed the Philippine Bar Examinations in 1983.
In his past diplomatic assignments, Ambassador Yabes served as a Vice-Consul and later Consul in the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, with concurrent accreditation to Macau from 1984 -1989. He was posted in the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo as Minister Counselor and Consul General from 1989-1994.
From Tokyo Ambassador Yabes was assigned to the Office of American Affairs in the Department of Foreign Affairs where he served as Executive Director from 1994-1995. He then served as Board Secretary of the Board of Foreign Service Administration from 1995-1996.
Prior to his assignment to Singapore, Ambassador Yabes was again posted at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo where he served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister from 1996-1999.
Ambassador Yabes is married to Josephine M. Celis and father to Maria Lucia and Leopoldo Maria.
